More than just a fun attraction, Atlantic AirVenture is a living and breathing learning hub. We provide educational and fun activities, based on real-world lessons, for both adults and children.
We strive to purchase, collect, catalogue, archive, restore and preserve Aviation history of all kinds for future generations benefit. Our focus is to make the collection as accessible and hands on as possible to our visitors, presenting the collection in an exciting and immersive environment.
At Atlantic AirVenture TY students receive an exciting introduction to the spectrum of careers within the aviation industry. Most people think of the people they see when travelling, pilots and cabin crew, in fact there are hundreds of people working to support each aircraft flying today. The aim of this programme is to give students an understanding of the career and study options available and to highlight the industry's demand for skilled professionals across the spectrum over the next 20 years.
For example, Ireland is not only the leader in global commercial aviation leasing and finance, it dominates it, Over half of the worlds leased aircraft are managed from Ireland. Over 26,000 people are directly employed by aviation company's in Ireland, contributing €4.1 billion to the economy. In the USA the Aviation industry supports 11 million workers and contributes $1.5 trillion to the economy.
The 4 hr TY Aviation Field Trip is an excellent opportunity for students who are thinking about their future careers, to hear the first hand experiences of a cross section of aerospace professionals, helping them to see where they can fit in to this exciting, diverse and challenging environment.
As part of the experience, everyone gets a chance to test their skill with a fun simulated flying lesson, and to round off the day students have an interactive guided tour of the Aviation Museum, to see a full scale Boeing 737 NG Flight Simulator, sit into Cessna aircraft, and get up close to the museums collection of Aircraft, Cockpits, Jet Engines and lots more. It's an educational and fun day out that is enjoyed by both the girls and boys.
