Barretstown’s new TY Programme is a Residential Experience on our beautiful 500-acre Barretstown Estate. We will be hosting a 4-day/3 night (Mon-Thurs) programme which will run weekly from February through to April and again from October through to November. Students will learn about Barretstown’s programmes and will actively participate in preparing the site for the next weekends camp and gain an insight into all areas of our operation, from programme delivery to facilities and fundraising.
While here, students have access to the expertise of our amazing Barretstown Camp team and campus, including our new residential facilities, teaching spaces, outdoor activities, gardens, and media studio space. We offer full board, a modern dining hall, a newly built accommodation block and a wealth of knowledgeable and experienced staff.
This is a key opportunity for any Transition Year student group to spend time away in fun, safe and educational environment, and to give students insight into the work Barretstown does for children and families affected by serious illness, and the wider community.
The immersive programme offers a broad scope of content to meet the needs of 2021 TY students. The programme has been designed taking into account the Department of Education criteria and will offer students the opportunity to:
• Make a positive contribution to the charity sector through fundraising and active participation in preparing the site for families
• Gain an insight into operations of the organisation through practical experience and talks from various areas of the organisation including programme, fundraising and facilities
• Participate in talks and workshops from guest speakers
• Develop Leadership Skills through workshops on Communication, Decision Making, Problem Solving etc.
• Strengthen their existing team bond through team building activities and challenges
• Kick back and enjoy the engaging evening entertainment programmes
