Yes, as a TY Ninja you only work when you want to. You can still participate in normal work experience placements during the time your school has assigned.

Can I Do Work Experience In My Parent’s Workplace?

Unless you are very interested in what your parent does it is advised that you don’t go to their workplace for work experience. You should try your best to get work experience in a place you are interested in rather than going to your parent’s workplace just for the sake of it.
